The first x-ray therapist at Duke, Mrs. Whitfield joined the staff in March, 1932, and will be sorely missed by her associates and friends at the hospital. Mrs. Whitfield came to Duke from the Y. W. Hearty thanks are also due to Mr. Minah and Miss Kaiser of the University Dining Halls for tlie excellent way in which they pro vided for us during this period. It appears that patients and Facul ty members located in the areas ad jacent to the new Oul-Patieiit en trance construction M’ill have to con tinue to suffer through the month of August. Noise in this area will be lui- avoidable during that time and for most of that period the ]iassageway into Baker House at the first floor level will be blocked. The tolerance with which everyone has accepted the unavoidable inconvenience and noise is greatly appreciated and we hope that this construction marks the peak of such troubles. All of us are extremely sorry to see Anne and Wendell Weisend leave us. Wendy has been indispensable in handling our Public Kelations activi ties and we shall miss him greatly. It goes without saying that our very best wishes for every success go with him to V.P.I. According to present plans Norman K. Nelson, Assistant Director of the Bureau of Public In formation will be assigned to Hos pital and Medical School coverage. (Continued on Page 5) PICNIC PICTURE STORY
